OHIO STREET RESIDENCE

In a city as large as Chicago, street intersections are critical, and everything seems to happen at the street corner. This house is organized around the corner rather than axially toward the street. The organization of the home captures the energy concentrated at the intersection of Ohio and Oakley Streets. At the corners of the house the hard masonry shell cuts away, and windows expand upward and outward. At the front door the skeleton of the porch overlooks the street corner. Interior functions are arranged with the most public, such as the dining room, at the street corner; and the most private at the opposing corner.
