DELAWARE PLACE
Starting with a vintage condo meant modern updates were needed to brighten the space, update lighting fixtures, and make the kitchen more functional to the clients’ everyday life. Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace was applied throughout the condo, covering the previous deep tan color; new stain brought warmth and evenness to the hardwood floors to contrast and enhance the brightened walls; and the existing crystal chandeliers and sconces were swapped with new modern lighting. The reconfiguration of the kitchen island into a peninsula meant we could create a Parisian café-like eating counter, complete with an organic arrangement displaying the client’s mix of her mother’s collection and her own newly acquired Royal Copenhagen blue and white porcelain plates.
In addition to the architectural updates made to the space, the interior furnishings brought together the couple’s distinct preferences for Mid-century modern and Parisian eclecticism. Vintage and old met new and modern, while jewel tones mingled with light and bright hues. In the Living Room, for example, a rocking chair, ottoman and a forest-colored velvet sofa paired with a Scissor Chair reupholstered in a bright red fabric. Meanwhile, a Niels Otto Moller Bar Car Trolley sits between two tufted high back lounge chairs reupholstered in a spruce colored fabric on the back with a textured fabric on the front. Both unexpected and grounding accent pieces incorporated with a handmade side table highlight a few of the other items that helped deliver a residence that is just as relaxed as it is refined.
